The Hana Katana embodies power, form and function in the simplest of accoutrements. The blackened tsuba (guard), fuchi (collar) and fuchi-kashira (pommel) display falling cherry blossoms juxtaposed by the real white same (ray skin) under the black tsuka-ito (handle wrap) and accented by silver cherry blossom menuki (handle ornaments), habaki (blade collar) and seppa (spacers). The 27 1/2" forged steel blade's distinctive hamon (temper line) flows smoothly from kissaki (blade point) to the habaki. The blade is concealed in a textured, matte black saya with a buffalo horn kurikata (knob) and black sageo (cord). The Hana Katana is a sword for the humble warrior who needs only to let the blade do the talking.
